Concentrating on Food Service Formats:  While retail formats (supermarkets, mass merchants, natural retailers, military commissaries, limited assortment stores, natural food cooperatives) are continuously adding plant-based foods (of all kinds), there is still a major need for the introduction of plant—based alternatives to food service formats such as:

Plant-based food sales in 2020 grew 2x faster than overall food sales.

  • Dollar sales growth of plant-based foods is outpacing dollar sales growth of overall foods.
  • Dollar sales of plant-based foods grew 27 percent in the past year and 43 percent over the past two years to reach $7 billion.
  • Comparatively, total U.S. retail food dollar sales grew just 15 percent over the past year and 17 percent over the past two years.
  • Unit sales of plant-based foods is also up by 22 percent.

The Packaged Goods Services Association Family of Programs:

The Packaged Goods Services Association and the Co-Packing Network work together helping…
1.). Contract Manufacturers:  Helping with finding new customers (brands and retailers).
2.). Start-up and Emerging Brands:  with their needs for creating their products (in a commercial kitchen or contract manufacturer) then launching their products into the marketplace.

Founded by the Contract Packaging Association and its partners, the Packaged Goods Services Association was created as an expansion of the CPA’s RFQ Tool.  The RFQ Tool helps start-up and emerging brands with their co-packing needs.   The RFQ Tool is being expanded to include efforts with commercial kitchens, private label companies, CPG companies with their own facilities and related partners.
